ultimate racing downpipe

any chance of another pic from the stock head opening... or a closer shot to see the stock connection from a different angle? Or set the opening of the pipe next to something to get a better size reference? It looks like an extremely small opening on that stock pipe. Comparing that to say 4 exhaust ports off the head of the k20 or whatever engine.
Yes sir I'll do that after work tomorrow.. oh and fyi everyone: the picture of the stock dp is incorrect.. I put the two pieces together wrong I just noticed. Bottom piece is upside down. The angled part of the pipe should be swooping downward, not upwards. Sorry about that..

I figured it was wrong, it wasn't making sense to see how the ur pipe was designed as compared to the stock pipe.

Correct setup for the Stock DP... Also a reference credit card to show the inlet of the DP..

Just giving everyone an update: Uninstalled my stock DP.. Also went ahead and did the coolant bypass for the throttle body =) . I have the following pics, and I'll update when the new DP arrives w/pics and videos.:turbospin:

nice! did taking off the upper cowling make it easier?

thanks for the size reference. Larger opening than I originally thought, but still looks restrictive.

Oh, not only did it make it easier, but made it POSSIBLE.. you cannot install a DP on this vehicle without removing the cowling, otherwise you cannot get to the upper heat shield bolts, upper stock DP bolts or the 1st 02 sensor. It is a requirement. But less than a pint of blood lost and we got it done lol (actually my buddy in the picture did most of the bleeding for me, bless him lol)

Similarly to the 8th, removing the cowl will make the work much much easier.

Yes I haven't had a stock cat back since the u.r. cat back back was released.. mine is w/ the 3.5" rolled tip and the “2nd muffler" mid pipe option

Were you experiencing some sort of back pressure with the down pipe connected to the stock catback?

You guys will hate me for this: No, I don't have a video of my exhaust, I realized that when I was done uninstalling my DP :( But I am happy to report my new DP will be here tomorrow so I will have videos and pics up tomorrow night =)

it's fine, most of us will end up getting the complete system and we'll be able to compare you exhaust note with what's on the video from UR..all is not lost, my friend

How hard was taking that upper piece off to get to the top of the downpipe? Any write-up on how to do this?
It was more annoying than i thought.. but for starters, the wipers need to come off first.. than the sides of the cowel snap off, than 3 push plastic pins, then you just pull the main assembly out and unbolt the metal cover under it, that's it..

The engine itself, I'm sure, still has those 4 ports. Technically, this design would be less restrictive imo since the 'collector' is part of the motor, there's probably nothing inside the 'collector' portion before hitting the giant hole flange piece. Which is why I don't see why people are getting all butt-hurt about there being no actual header.

Of course, this is all under the assumption that the 'collector' portion doesn't have holes the size of toothpicks. I'm sure it's not too bad, but I have never seen pics of inside it.

this is for the v6 accord. It's just a bit of a bottleneck. Imagine the volume of gas that can escape that area versus the volume of gasses that could escape from a standard header. Plus, it hits a catalytic converter immediately on the OEM setup.

I wonder if porting and polishing the head would help improve the exhaust flow and increase the HP?
Has anyone who does engine work taken this bad boy apart to see what improvements can be made?

Ummm.... Can we say REDICULOUS?? WHAT A DIFFERENCE! More power, DP is half the weight of stock, and the exhaust sounds like a dream, then when you floor it, theres nothing holding you back! I LOVE THIS DP, Best Mod of All time for this car, hands down. Videos to come tomorrow, which Webby will watermark and upload imediately after. Guy's, I love being the ginny pig. NOW I must insist that everyone buy the UR Exhaust w/ the 2nd muffler midpipe option. Without, it will be too loud. This setup allows you to have the same flow with zero restriction but sounding like a CLEAN, expensive non raspy exhaust system. Again, there is NO advantage of buying the straight pipe mid section. It will just make it sound like ****. 2nd muffler option all the way, hands down. Heres a couple of pictures to hold yall over till tomorrow.
