Must be really exciting!! This would be playing in my head if I went shopping like that. Flying around in a basket :p

They'll be going to a donation site that I'm trying to arrange, on Wednesday. I'll get more pics then.
We didn't leave them at Toys R Us like last year, because last year one of the staff members thought the donations were returns to be restocked on the shelves. Another staff member and I were quick to stop him, but we felt it safer to bring to a place that didn't sell the items that were being donated.

Especially since you doubled last years funding. Do you guys go to Toys R Us due to a deal or was it a tradition to do Toy R Us versus Walmart, Target, etc

I think there is a much larger toy selection at Toys R Us. Even then it became hard to find decent deals to get a wide variety of toys. We did our best to try and keep each toy under $10 so that we could maximize the amount of children receiving them. We still kept an eye on quality, educational value, longevity, had lots pieces or accessories, and avoided things that needed batteries. Thankfully, Toys R Us was basically empty that night. My dad went to walmart for something last night, and said there were thousands of people there and no shopping carts available. It was if they were giving everything away.

The initial tots shop happened at toys r us. I told them what we were trying to do and a regional rep offered us additional savings if we did the shop there. I think it varied from 10-15% off, but it was something.

Yeah, their text "DEALS5" to whatever number that was advertised all over the store, didn't work. I was pissed. They didn't seem to want to do anything.

No no, not at all. We're all on the same page here. We spent hours looking for the best sales. There is a pic of 3 Cody Simpson dolls. I found them hidden at the end of an aisle at the back. $16.99 marked down to $1 each. Like full size Barbie with accessories. I was thrilled that some young girl would get those.

They usually offer a friends and family weekend coupon for employees. If I recall correctly, it was the 1st weekend of dec. I believe the store manager gave us that coupon to use on the full order. I just had to schedule it with them. Next year it may have to be cut off sooner, and we'll coordinate with the store where the shopping takes place.
