Booty wanted it, but it didn’t come in a hatch.

I driven both solid and flex strut bars from STI (on Forester XT)

I may say they react pretty much same, giving sharper steering response and chasis solidness

the difference is when you drive on the harsh road with uneven surface - with the solid bar car tends to jump hitting a crack\hole\bump with both sides, even when the hole is at 1 side of the car

and driving with a flex one allows more vertical movement for each side of the car, leaving the other side in relative comfort, so as not bothering you with unnecesseary hit in the steering wheel

and concerning horizontal movements and corners - you will get the same stiffness from both bars

Regardless of what it comes in... I'm not paying $70k for it. (Rumor is that it will be around $50-60k + markup ($15-20k range)

Can someone explain the flexible strut tower bar? Seems counter productive (scratches head)

Its kinds how motor mounts work, they use a hardened rubber in the middle of the bar, so it does have some flex but still have rigidity vs not having one. Unless things have changed since my 08 Legacy GT, Front strut mounts were so close to the A pillar front strut bars have little effectiveness. And the rear strut mount was built into the trunk floorboard so the rear strut bar does nothing.


Forged internals are nice, bigger turbo nothing new and most people will go bigger, I loved my 20g hybrid turbo on the 2.5 boxer. I kinda like the wide body, mainly of the front canards. IMO lose the rear spoiler and go back with the roof spoiler on the 06 STI

That's what I said. They supposedly had an ESX STi that they sold for a $50k markup too a while ago

They were increasing the price of the Civic Type R's also. Of course not a $50k markup (that I saw) but definitely much more than they should have been aloud to do.

I feel car manufacturers should force dealerships to have a limit..

IE: Car is $50k.. can't go over $65k or something like that. You get what I'm trying to say.

50K markup? Good lord, the price of the car is too high to begin with.

But it's a special edition! :hiding: :giggle:
 
I saw a few dealerships trying 20-25k markup on the r when it was released. Most seemed to be in the 5-10k markup range initially (that I saw).
 
Markups are for the "Want it, gotta have it" suckers. I've seen plenty of models that started out marked up and eventually came to down to or below MSRP. The subaru is a little different being that it is an extremely limited edition, but still I don't see any dealers succesfully selling at more than 50% markup.
 
I just don't agree with the principle. It really shows what kind of scum bag is in charge to allow stuff like that to happen at their dealership...maybe it's just me.

I also noticed the unjustified mark up on the CTR when it was released. Equally selfish. First come, first serve at a reasonable price (i understand that some profit needs to be generated, but damn...). But again, i guess that's just me.

It's capitalism. Whatever the market will bear. I'm pretty sure the market will speak and that markup will have to come way down. But hey, it's a car. You don't have to buy it. It's not like they're jacking up the coat of live saving medications ;)
