Hi guys,

I am interested in putting side markers. Honda should've done this on all 9th gen civic from factory. Even a 9th gen civic hybrid has a side marker on a side mirror. Now 10th gen civic has side markers on fender. I prefer side markers on fender more than on a side mirror. What's your liking?

I was thinking about getting an old Civic or Integra side markers from eBay or some other sources.

For example:

http://www.icbmotorsport.com/dc5tyramsima1.html

Then drill a small hole on each side of fender to mount the side marker. How about the wiring? How do I split the wire to turn signal?

I need some information as I may ask my friend who is a mechanic in a shop to do it together.

Thanks,

Tak

I did this as a DIY on my 8thGen Si a long long time ago. Small hole to be cut is all in the definition of what you think what a small hole is, lol. I did all the work in my garage and it might have taken 3 hours or so. That's cutting the hole, painting the new bare metal(just touch up paint with a brush), doing the wiring and snapping in the side marker to the fender.

It's not overly difficult but its pretty scary making that cut into the fender.

That's why I want to get it done in a shop. So it looks like it's 2-3 hours labor I assume. They usually charge me $50 per hour. That's gonna be 150 give or take LOL.

I checked out a couple of body shops around my area. They all quoted me $200 for this job and said drop the car before afternoon and pick it up after 5. I will need to find out from my friend's shop soon. But I doubt if it is cheaper than that...

Unfortunately I am unable to find a reputable shop to do it. Even the shop that my friend works at refuses by his boss. Or I will be asked for a price very ridiculously.

The lowest I can find is $200. It is still over price.

Perhaps I may go with the side mirrors from Hybrid? Is there a website I can find cheaper parts? It looks kind of expensive from College Hills.

Thanks

If you can find a hybrid in a junk yard maybe
