2012 Civic MPG - share your current gas mileage

My personal best on a 400 mile highway trip. I'm averaging about 37 in the past 7 months I've had my 20012 LX. During the summer I had 6 weeks were I averaged 40. Any city driving kills my mileage.

2012 Civic MPG - share your current gas mileage

The 2012 LX sedan auto I bought 3 months ago is averaging 35 MPG, 39.8 high, 30.7 low (1st week), probably 30% city, 4800 miles.

2012 Civic MPG - share your current gas mileage

I've put 1900 miles on the 2012 LX in the past 5 weeks. I'm averaging 34 MPG for 6 fill ups. After the first 2 odd fill ups it has been very consistent, 34 +- O.5 MPG.

Moving up from a 1998 to 2012 Civic

I'm amazed the mileage for the second tank of gas went up 8MPG vs. the first one!! All I can think of is maybe the dealer didn't give me a completely full tank of gas when I picked it up. The iMID said 37.3 but it calculated to 38.8!!! 311 miles with 8.024 gallons. The first tank...

Moving up from a 1998 to 2012 Civic

Average up to 37.5MPG, peak of 37.9 in about 130 miles! I'm getting more than 7MPG better than the last tank! Maybe the previous owner never drove it on the highway and it wasn't broken in yet. Since it had an average of 23.8MPG when I bought it I'd guess it was all city for 8400 miles.

Moving up from a 1998 to 2012 Civic

It's amazing how useful those controls are! I'm not a big fan of all the technology (will it last 10-15 years??) but it sure is useful! Having a great time with the 3 mileage gages. Got 30.7 from the first tank. Averaging 35.4 (peak of 36.7) so far after 70 miles on the second.

2012 Civic MPG - share your current gas mileage

I got 30.7MPG on my first tank (first week after buying my 2012 Civic LX). Since filling up Saturday I'm at 35.4 with a peak of 36.7, after 70 miles. More highway miles than last week. It's amazing how much hitting lots of lights kills your mileage.

Moving up from a 1998 to 2012 Civic

I brought the car to the dealer this morning and they did a software update for the stereo and fixed the audio controls on the steering wheel. I only found an update required for the Hybrid but he found a TSB for the LX & HX. I'll have to see if I can find the TSB and make a new thread for...

2012 Civic MPG - share your current gas mileage

I bought my 2012 LX last Saturday with 8400 miles on it. The odometer and MPG had never been reset. The 23.8 MPG had me a little worried but the previous owner put less than 3000 miles on it per year and probably never drove on the highway. It looked at the CARFAX before buying it. The...

Moving up from a 1998 to 2012 Civic

I called the salesman and he's going to talk to Service. He said they will fix it.

Moving up from a 1998 to 2012 Civic

I did some reading on the Honda website. The LX has audio controls on the left side of the steering wheel. Mine don't work for the audio only, they work fine for the iMID. I saw there was a recall for something like this for the Hybrid only, a software patch. Maybe it applied to the LX in...

No. Is that an EX option? I was just about to do a search.

Moving up from a 1998 to 2012 Civic

I bought the car yesterday. The final cost was a bit more than I expected. Every little thing adds up. I had originally gotten the HondaCare 7 year/100k mile warrantee but the salesman (who we bought the 2010 Odyssey from 1.5 years ago) said I could up it to 120k miles for a bit more...

Moving up from a 1998 to 2012 Civic

I found a thread like that in another Civic forum. Interesting reading with some people never getting out of the 20's and others sometimes getting 50's. It makes it sound like some cars are defective but it's probably all the fault of the driver. My wife is on and off the gas peddle every...

Up until a few years ago I recorded miles & gallons for years. Now I just do it once in a while to check.

Moving up from a 1998 to 2012 Civic

Auto. I had a stick with the 87 Prelude and 92 Civic, but my wife has had some injuries that would have driving a stick annoying. We're early 50's, I'm not sure how I'll be doing in 10 years driving 40 miles per day with a stick. The manual transmission is very hard to find in CT. It makes...

Moving up from a 1998 to 2012 Civic

I forgot to mention. We had a 1992 Civic that we picked up the day after we got married and drove 1500 miles on our honeymoon. Got 49MPG on the first tank!! It averaged in the 40's for the next 10 years until we had to sell it to buy the 2002 Odyssey after having the 3rd kid. 3 car seats...

Moving up from a 1998 to 2012 Civic

My 1998 Civic still gets 35 MPG (calculated). If I can get 35 with that I'm sure I can average near 40 with the 2012 Civic. The winter gas and cold temps kill the mileage. I get about 28 MPG in the winter. I normally drive like an old lady so I'll probably use the Econ mode on the highway...

Moving up from a 1998 to 2012 Civic

In 2 days I pick up a 2012 Civic LX with 8,400 miles to replace my 1998 Civic DX with 218,000 miles. It is being handed down to our 17 year old son. The paint is shot, blistered and cracking, but it runs great. This will be our 7th Honda (wife and I) and my first newish car in 15 years...
