DIY $6 Dollar Camera mount inside car

I hate having people always record for me, so I decided I wanted to make a camera mount for was very cheap.

I didn't want to pay over 10 bucks for a mount.

I already bought a suction cup iPhone holder for my window to also record my races.

I paid $6 bucks after tax for the bolts and U bolts.

I used PCV piping to start out, but will make a metal one later.

Bolt size for the tripod hole in the camera is 1/4-20.

I know this isn't the best DIY, but I just wanted to try it out.

I did this DIY in about 10 minutes and didn't take my time.

I just wanted a quick project. I went to Home Depot and picked up a few items.

I took out our head rest and lined up where I will drill my holes and marked it.

I drilled the first two holes Tested one side on

Do the same for the other side(line up and mark the holes)

In the car(I know camera is not straight and aligned. It's adjustable.)

I got bored, so I painted it black, and put electrical tape around the U bolts to keep it from scratching the head rest.

Overall, for $6 bucks, It worked with my budget.

It works good so far. A little bouncy when taking off, but I am pleased with it.

I just need to make one that faces my passenger window now. Here's a quick video of it in my car.

I didn't bolt it to the head rest, just finger tight so, its bouncy.

Just hoping onto the freeway.

I can imagine. We have a rollcage in the M3 and the roll bar mount for the GoPro so we didn't need to make anything. We can't attach it like that to the race seats either. I know many people will likely love this DIY though. Quick, easy, inexpensive and efficient!
 
indeed. any chance for a video without the radio playing? I wonder how much the camera shake is caused by the bass? Nice cheap diy :woot:
 
Nice DIY. It will definitely be less wobbly using a metal bracket.
 
Looks just like the ones my buddy made for some of the local ocho members.
 
Love the DIY setup... This is something I would do and will likely show to my buddy who does drifting.

You might try running it from the right post of the driver's headrest to the left post of the passenger's headrest, giving it full support on both sides of the mount.
