Black 2012 Si Sedan

No proper pictures yet, but I have a pair of R33's that I tossed onto the front to give me more shock clearance. The way the RPF1's sat up front made me a bit nervous and I could hear them rub against the strut under compression. R33 wheel specs are 17x9 +30et and I remounted my 255 Advans on them. This is just to see what I can do in terms of fitment as I am looking to jump down to a lower et to dial in more negative camber.

Went to Sonoma today and finally had access to a GoPro. Only problem was that my friend left his mounts at home, so he just sat shotgun and filmed during one of my sessions. Beat my personal best of 2:10 with a 2:05. I'm hoping to break the 2:00 mark with a stock motor. I think if I upgrade at the very least my rear sway bar, I might be able to do that.

Here's a video of random clips throughout the day. He had only filmed parts of the session, so this is the best I could put together. Not sure if there was a photographer there today as there was another event at a different track with higher attendance. There's some spots in the video where I know I can tighten up or change my line, so excuse all of that. I had a passenger so the weight transfer and braking zones were much different.

Ordered a rear sway bar and was going to install it before my track day this past Saturday, but discovered that I had a nail in one of my tires. So what did I do? I took my daily driver CRZ out to the track. Can't let that spot I paid for go to waste!

Gonna have to figure out my tire situation before the next day. I was really looking forward to see how the sway bar would affect my times.

Went out to the last NASA event of the year over at Sonoma Raceway. Waiting for pictures from a friend as well as the pro-photographer. Until then, here's a video of me playing cat and mouse with a friend's Camaro SS.

Thanks. The car needs a brake overhaul and new front tires. I'm not sure if I can crack that 2:00:xxx mark with the stock motor anymore. So next season, it's time for some engine bolt ons.

Nice pics! How much do track days like that cost you? Is it open to anyone or are you running with a group?

Track days depend on the organization here. I normally run thru NASA and SpeedSF. NASA is cheaper since there is a yearly fee (I think it's like $40?). Events range anywhere from 175~300 depending on the org and track. It's open to anyone as you're classed accordingly. For NASA, I run HPDE3 and with SpeedSF I run High Intermediate, so open passing/no point by.

I always recommend NASA for those who are looking to get into track days. The first couple of events, you'll get an instructor to do a sit in as well as lead follow. This allows you to see the line of the track so that once you build up your confidence, you can have a better understanding of how to attack a corner than those who just show up and run. With NASA, you work your way up and eventually, if you so choose, you can get involved in more semi-pro type of driving, like the Spec E30 or Time Trials group.

Ran my last event of the year and managed a 2:01 at Sonoma. Short of my goal with the stock motor, but I'm still happy with my progress this year. Next year, the car will start to get more changes, so these are the last photos of it looking the way it does at the track. I've sourced a wingless 2012 trunk and will be changing the car a bunch for next year.

Haven't updated in a while. I was going to do everything all at once when I decided it was time to head back to the track (March) but my friend convinced me to come out early in the year. All photos without the watermarks were taken by me.

Went over the car and cycled out fluids and installed my catback the day before —

The Neovas look like they have one more good session in them.

The next day, my buddy and I cruised over to Laguna Seca. It was my first time there as a driver and my friend's first track day all together. He drives a Volkswagen R32, but has a bunch of other cars as well. I was able to help him shave off 7 seconds by the end of the day while I rattled off a 1:54:XXX. Brakes were toast by the second session out. I guess it was time to get new pads and rotors, but I wasn't planning on going this early in the year. I think with a fresh set of tires and and without the brake fade, I have a high 1:40's time in this car without any real motor mods.

The world famous Corkscrew. Super difficult to nail this.

I actually spun my car cause I carried too much speed in, the rear end got light, and I lifted causing major snap oversteer. D'oh!
