Then comes the unthinkable which was to actually take the motor out and fully torn down to examine.

Come to find out nothing was damaged but before it took a no start dump one down shift caused a loud tick from all the valves in the head, only between idle and 2k.
So unknowingly enough kept driving and pecking at the issue until one start up it did then poom no cel no nothin just turns off. crank after crank with no turnover brought me back to the drawing board...actually building the car with all the parts wanted to put in.

Not sure how this will turn out but either a really long thread or a multi post but here’s to show how agonizing it is to see your car sit in a garage slowly but surely progressing towards your goal

info on what parts you're planning to install? What's up with the intake? No filter on it?

info on what parts you're planning to install? What's up with the intake? No filter on it?

essentially a type r bottom end. stock crank has to be replaced with better cooling new valvetrain parts puts a stock z7 motor at 12.0:1 c.r.

But for the intake there’s a screen on the tube end then from the elbow to the v stack is opened

wait what? A type r bottom end from what year type R?

z7 block and crank but with high compression pistons, chromoly flywheel, and oil pump from the fd2 ctr. Hardest part was finding 87mm pistons with same compression as the fd2

What pistons did you end up with?

seems weird but they’re listed as the PNC ITR pistons with 11.7 ratio which is the compression for the fd2 meanwhile itr’s are 11.5. talking with the seller being a good price on ebay says without a mill/resurface the compressions at the fd2 ratio. also Nippon being the brand they got decent reviews but for the specs it was hard looking for that particular compression to fit stock bore without extra block work and still be cost effective

more to come, debating on starting a new thread showing pregress. not to boast but for 9th gens these kind of threads just aren’t around. waiting for the bedroom to pile up with more parts

as of yesterday a lot came in the mail with some parts on as they came

most piled up waiting to get everything put together. crankshafts getting the order placed then soon the rest to get the key turned and cant wait
