Honda has an army of tuned models and concepts for next week's 2016 SEMA show in Las Vegas, with the spotlight firmly placed on the tenth generation Civic.

Highlighting the compact model's presence in Sin City, is the baddest one of them all, the new Honda Civic Type R prototype that has just been granted a US visa. Building on the new generation Civic hatch, it offers a preview of the next-year's high-performance model, with little, if any changes expected on the production car.

Honda continues to keep its powertrain specs a secret, but word on the street has it that it will use an upgraded version of the 2.0-liter, turbo'd-four taken from the current model producing over 300 horses.

Joining it at the Las Vegas Convention Center from November 1 will be the 2017 Civic hatch, with a Euro-inspired styling fitted with the brand's factory performance accessory concepts that add custom accessories such as a decklid spoiler, new emblems, brake rotors and carpet floor mats, in addition to the 19-inch alloy wheels and red underbody spoilers.

Arriving at the SEMA Show straight from the 2016 Global Rallycross season finale, the GRC Civic Coupe Competitive Race car will join the 2016 Coupe Racing Concept, with a FIA-approved safety cage, that will compete in domestic and international endurance events, debuting on December 3-4, at the USAF 25 Hour of Thunderhill.

Honda's extensive lineup will also include the SEGA Sonic Civic, which "embodies the spirit of the 'Sonic the Hedgehog' classic video game", as the manufacturer explains, adding custom wheels and tires, an updated exterior, a one-of-a-kind vinyl, and bespoke paint scheme. Inside, the car has special front and rear seats with Katzkin Blue Leather, Sonic the Hedgehog 25th Anniversary embroidered logos and a custom audio-visual system in the trunk, signed by Rockford Fosgate.

The Civic frenzy continues with the Coupe / MAD Industries, completed with carbon fiber bits and pieces and finished in Aegean Blue and Jet Black, on top of the custom interior. The one-off also benefits from the Eibach Pro Kit Performance Springs and 19-inch wheels and is joined by the Civic Sedan Meguiars Build - Civic X Concept, whose performance is boosted by Greddy Performance Products' upgrades.

The last Civic to be shown in Las Vegas is the Body-In-White, which is designed "to allow amateur and pro race teams the ability to build new race cars without having to tear apart a production car", according to Honda.

That's quite the array of vehicles on display. Id be interested to see how they squeezed a 4wd system into the rallycross car.

Doesn't necessarily mean they did. I have seen Honda Fits equipped with front wheel drive compete in rally cross events and do rather well.
