Neal held off fellow NGTC racers Jason Plato and then in the closing stages Andrew Jordan to take a first win of the year for the Honda Yuasa Racing Team. At the start of the race, Rob Collard converted his pole position into the lead, ahead of Matt Neal and Tom Onslow-Cole. However Onslow-Cole was soon handed a drive-through penalty for jumping the start.

Before he could take his penalty, Onslow-Cole had lost a couple of places. Plato took the inside line on the way up to Druids on lap two and then Plato, Gordon Shedden and Andrew Jordan all passed the BMW.

While he opened up a sizeable lead on the first lap, Collard was soon forced to defend from Neal and Plato. It only took the two NGTC runners until lap five to find a way past. Neal claimed the inside line as they headed through Clearways and Plato positioned his MG so he could follow the new leader into Paddock Hill Bend.

The safety car was out on track on lap eight when Nick Foster’s EBay Motors BMW landed on its roof after hitting the tyres on the run down Graham Hill. Six laps behind the safety car followed before the long-time rivals could do battle. However, when racing resumed, Neal and Plato did not disappoint. What followed were several laps where Plato climbed all over the back of the Honda, before eventually making the most of a tap at Clearways to take the inside line and move into the lead along the straight.

Plato’s lead was shortlived, as Neal performed a replica move the next time around to go back in front. Over the course of the final few laps, Plato’s pace dropped off and he was forced to defend from Andrew Jordan in the Pirtek Racing Honda. Jordan was able to make the Honda’s pace count and took second from Plato a couple of laps before the end. Neal took the chequered flag for his first win of the year and the first BTCC victory for an NGTC specification car. Jordan finished second, with Plato third, making it an all-NGTC podium.

Fourth place went to Mat Jackson, ahead of Rob Austin and Rob Collard. Jeff Smith finished seventh, with Ollie Jackson eighth and Dave Newsham ninth. Tom Onslow-Cole rounded out the top ten.
