k&n or afe drop in

Before we get into this i know these filters are not going to give me a billion hp. I've herd people getting better mpg and throttle response though. if they do give hp it's only a few

i see carid has 3 different filters and i'm not sure which is the best one. anyone have any opinions or use any of these?

I've used K&N for years, basically better air flow, less filtering, same with the AFE.
Now with the AFE oil less filter , I would say it's probably the same thing, but with out the oil, which would make me think it doesn't filter as well as the oil ones(I'm sure the companies will tell you different). I'm guessing they made that one for ppl that are to lazy to work with the oil(ISTCWTYD).

I liked them living in Colorado at altitude and not having big motors. They really helped. Over the long run they are cheaper, but as far as getting better gas mileage, what you may save on gas might not help in the motor getting not as clean air.

So you need to decide how long you want to keep the car......... Side note: I've had numerous cars and MC's with more than a 100k miles with no problems from K&N's.

only one I've used in the list would be k&n. Had probably 160k miles on it without issue.

I've used a K&N in my CR-Z (traded in last year for Si) and I currently have the K&N in my Si. It's a quality product and I have not had any problems.

You are correct in that any performance difference is practically negligible though and while possibly present, is too small to be felt. I've noticed a small increase in gas mileage but it also could have coincided with the engine breaking in. Too many factors to pinpoint the mpg increase.

After doing tons of research online i decided to go with the AFE dry pro. They filter better then the k&n-Are better constructed and still get really good air flow. also a lot easier to maintain with the maf problems some people get (which is prob their fault). i also got a crazy cheap deal on it for like 40$
