Ever wondered what happens when you combine 1,500 ping pong balls, warm water and liquid nitrogen? No, we haven’t either. But we’re glad somebody did, because the result is awesome.

This summer, Roy Lowry, an associate professor at Plymouth University in the UK tried a nice simple experiment. He poured liquified gas into a plastic bottle and closed it. This is a bad idea, Lowry warns the students in the video, because as the liquid turns into gas it will increase the pressure of the bottle. Then he put the bottle in a tank with warm water — which is supposed to make the liquid turn into gas — and filled the tank with 1,500 ping pong balls.

The result? Well, check the Youtube video to see yourself. It is well worth the build-up. You’ll even be able to see a couple of replays is slow-mo.

Oh, one more thing. Just as Lowry tells his students, you might want to cover your ears. Or turn down the volume.

Now pick them all up! Lol.

may have to try this out next time we get some liquid nitrogen in at work, not sure about the ping pong balls though.

I say we find a way to improve on this for an event opening/closing :eyebrows:
