Official Gun Thread

Y'all should just move to Texas. We have cookies.......oh and Guns, yeh we have those too
Those in Texas need to show up as well. Just because everything is bigger doesn't mean Obama can't touch you. We all need to make a stand. When the people fear their government, there is tyranny; when the government fears the people, there is liberty.

I've got a Colt Series 80 MKIV Gold Cup National Match
Ruger Blakhawk .357 with an extra cylinder bored for 9mm
and an antique CZ45 .25 cal semi auto that I found in an old safe my dad and grandfather used to share. My dad was there when I found it, and he said he'd never seen that gun in his life. By his estimates that gun had been hidden in that safe for at least 35-40 years, and it dates back to around 1950.

20130209_135924.jpg Here are a couple of what I have. The AR15 is your standard .223 with 3 30rnd mags, the black pistol is a Springfield XD compact in .45 with a 10rnd and a 13rnd mag. The black/silver pistol is my 13yr old girls that she saved up and bought new in less than 2 months time. Of course its in my name... for now. When she turns 18, she gets it as per law. I have a video of her shooting the compact .45 when she was 12, and its still her favorite to shoot. Did I mention she is legally blind? as is her twin sister. Now to figure out how to upload the video for all to see.

You can paste the URL to the YouTube vid & it'll post properly.

Its on my cellphone. Where to upload it? Guess I could post on face book and watch all the relatives in California blow a gasket. Hmmm another form of population control....I like it.

You can post the Facebook vid link as well. It'll work that way. You can upload to YouTube as well.

Bought my first rifle yesterday... Pulled the trigger on 'pun intended' the S&W mp15-22. Even lucked up and got the MOE version with the magpul stock and pistol grip, folding MBUS sights. Was extremely lucky to find it, they are hard to find around here. I live 5 min. From one of the largest gun shops in eastern NC and walked in as soon as they opened. To my surprise they had the EXACT rifle I was looking for. It was also recommended by Webby. Hope to get out and run some mags through it this afternoon....

Don't rorget to check the barrel for factory grease before firing............ Nice looking weapon.........

essentially the same in size, but not the same.

While the 5.56mm NATO and .223 Remington cartridges and chamberings are very similar, they are not identical. While there is a myth that 5.56 NATO cases are thicker and hence have less capacity than commercial .223 cases, this has been shown to be false. Each brand of case and each manufacturing lot has a slightly different case capacity; 5.56 NATO and .223 commercial cases tend to have nearly identical case capacity when measured using the water test. The NATO specification allows a higher chamber pressure.

Using commercial .223 Remington cartridges in a 5.56mm NATO chambered rifle should work reliably, but generally will not be as accurate as when fired from a .223 Remington chambered gun due to the longer leade. Using 5.56mm NATO mil-spec cartridges (such as the M855) in a .223 Remington chambered rifle can lead to excessive wear and stress on the rifle and even be unsafe, and the SAAMI recommends against the practice.

bunch of additional info ^

Having hand loaded ammo myself, using a spec sheet for how much powder to load into a casing......... I have yet seen where using the full capacity of the case was ever called for............. Putting that aside, the full capacity of a casing with powder may have allowed for space as well, that part I don't know...... Just thought I'd add this, use a loading sheet, don't want to F it up........

I've not heard this on the evening news.

446 school age children shot in Chicago in 2012 with strongest gun laws in country – media silent. The cesspool known as Chicago probably has the toughest gun laws in the country, yet despite all the shootings, murders, and bloodshed, you never hear a peep about this from the corrupt state run media. In Chicago, there have been 446 school age children shot in leftist utopia run by Rahm Emanuel and that produced Obama, Jesse Jackson, Louis Farrakhan, etc. 62 school aged children have actually been killed by crazed nuts in Chicago by the end of 2012. So why isn’t this news worthy? Is it because it would embarrass those anti second amendment nuts who brag about Chicago’s tough gun laws? Is it because most of the kids who were shot and killed were minorities? Or is it because the corrupt media doesn’t want to show Chicago in a bad light? Amazingly, no Obama crocodile tears either.

For those of you have not got the point of this post yet, it’s to make the point about gun laws. No matter how tough the gun laws are, the crazed, nut jobs will find a way to get them and if they so chose, use them. No draconian law can stop this, no matter how well intentioned the law is, or if it’s just about leftists grabbing power from citizens and taking away their constitutional rights.

The leadership in Illinois - all Democrats.

Of course, they're all blaming each other.

Can't blame Republicans; there aren't any!

Chicago school system rated one of the worst in the country.

State pension fund $78 Billion in debt, worst in country.

Cook County ( Chicago ) sales tax 10.25% highest in country.

The shootings and killings seem to pile highest during the long, hot summers there, particularly in neighborhoods where many lack air-conditioned apartments or live in otherwise inhospitable dwellings. So the sidewalks and corners, front stoops and parks become a draw for folks on the hottest of days. Law enforcement sources say about 80% of homicides involving a gun take place outdoors, the majority of them before the bone-chilling Chicago winters set in.

This past summer, the city experienced a more than 30% spike in homicides while other crimes, including rape and battery have gone down. Twice this year the city bested its record for the most killings in a single day—six—once in February, and once in August. Over the course of another weekend in August, nine people were killed and 37 wounded in shootings. There were no less than 38 killings in August alone.

msnbc had a thing about it in Dec -

webby .... Thx for the link , although msnbc is part of nbc "I" don't consider it in the main stream news( I could be wrong). More to the point they still didn't bring the problem out, that the area is a no guns area, yet it still has gun violence. They need to do more to the criminal for using a weapon , as our Country continues to fall into the abyss of unemployment, there will be a higher number of ppl that will use crime to survive, and law abiding ppl will need guns to defend ourselves.

If there were 20 some killed in a day by one person it'd be all you'd hear about for a while. It wouldn't matter what city it took place in. I don't think the murder rates of Chicago are all that shocking to most, because it is essentially commonplace. People are numb to hearing x people were killed a day there.

It's good to see that Chicago news is covering the killings, it just proves that gun bans don't work. But, I have yet to hear any of them admit to it.
