:eyebrows:

did you provide a tarp for him to put on the inside of the vehicle to drive it home? That way the interior remains looking like that.. :nerd:

do you ever take wheels off to work on cleaning them, or always do the cleaning on the car?

It looks like a brand new truck!

LOL, nope....but I do have coated paper matts I place on the floor and plastic seat covers if needed. ;)

I take wheels off occasionally...mostly for Opti-Coat jobs...most people don't want to spring for the added cost though.

Did these M3 wheels with Opti-Coat not too long ago...

Did these a while back...

so, if someone came in with a rough looking wheel - tar/grime, brake dust... you name it, what do you do to clean out the wheel? Or, are you mostly cleaning out the front portion of the rim, and leaving the inside alone? Obviously you cleaned the entire thing on the above.... any product you like the most for cleaning that inside?

It really depends on the package the owner chooses and what their expectations are. Most the jobs I do involve a good cleaning of the wheel face and barrels, but no tar removal. Wheel type also plays a big role in the product I choose. For the majority of the cars I do, Sonax Full Effect is my go to wheel cleaner. Its very safe, yet effective. On top of the wheel cleaner I also have a half dozen or so wheel brushes used to reach all areas of the wheels. On average it takes about 5 minutes to detail a wheel like the M3 ones pictured above.

Todd has an article on our blog that get really in depth on the whole process. ;)

Mini Cooper R paint correction, Opti-Guard protection

This hot little hatch actually belongs to the owner of the E46 I recently detailed and after inspection it was scheduled for a 2-step correction with Opti-Guard protection. After working on a full size Chevy truck last weekend, having this little thing to work on was a relief to say the least, but surprisingly, it was still a fair amount of work.

This vehicle did see occasional tunnel washes in the winter (slap n' Scratch) which was very evident upon the initial inspection. The scratching and marring on the tops and passenger side were not quite as severer as the drivers side, and the lower you went down on the side panels, the worse they were. For those of you familiar with the slap n' scratch wash, you will understand why this is. ;)

Process:

Wash - ONR
Wheels - Sonax Full Effect
Tires - OPC
Clay - Clay Magic fine clay, ONR as lube
Paint correction - D300/MF followed by 106fa on tangerine LC pads (GG6 DA). Drivers side also needed some M105/Surbuf.
Opti-Guard prep - Foam bath with OPC/CGCW followed by wash with CGCW, 15% IPA wipe-down
Glass - Meguiar's D120
Exhaust tips/metal trim - Optimum Metal Polish
Tires - Meguiar's Hyper Dressing 3:1
Opti-Guard application - Paint was done using CarPro Suede MF applicators, trim/wheels were done with foam applicator, plastic grills done with air brush.

using a two bucket method for washing - I've seen seen him say a number of times...

Nice! I've never seen that video from AutoLavish....and they're on the "Ask-A-Pro" team with me! :D

I'm going to have to give them some grief now.... ;)

any cars you've done recently?

I've done a couple but haven't done anything with the pics yet. Cars were nothing special and the pics are so so. I have a new Optima Turbo this weekend though. ;)
