2. With the blade of a screwdriver, take out both ends from the roller.

3. Mark 25mm (one inch) on both sides of the roller.

4. Unglue the blind from the roller only the necessary to clear the cutting of the roller.

6. Cut the excess blind with the rotary cutter with the help of a square angle ruler, using as reference point the blind roller.

7. Reinstall the roller fasteners.

8. Mark 25mm (one inch) on both sides of the sunblind frame and cut it as straight as you can. File it in the outer to help the fit of the plastic cover.

9. Assembly the sunblind taking care of the number of turns of the outer plastic cover to adjust the blind tension.
10. Cut the foam of the sunblind (about 12 inches. Please check with your own installation) as shown in order to easy its fit on the tray.

11. Open the trunk and remove the brake lamp.

12. Mark with masking tape where the C pillar garnish meets with the rear tray.

13. Remove the rear door seal close to the garnish assy.

14. Remove the garnish on both sides.

15. Remove both seat sides from the backseat. Push the lower part of the back seat to gain access to the 10mm bolts. Unscrew each bolt and move the part up to release it.

16. Remove the rear tray, starting from the edge close to back seat.

17. Position the sunblind about 10 inches from the front edge of the tray and centered between the masking tape marks. Screw the sunblind using the screws provided with the kit and the spring nuts on the underside of the tray to secure the blind. Glue some foam on the underside to cover the screws/spring nuts. Install the plastic screw covers.

18. Test the sunblind tension and how it works.

19. Reinstall the rear tray in the car taking care of not taping the assembly until sure that the green clips are in place.

20. Reinstall the pillar garnish and the door seals.

I like it! To clarify, which is the right side when taking the caps off of the roller, also did you cut the blind on an angle as your red mark shows? ( as to make it trapezoid shaped )

Do the VW instructions show which is the right side of the roller? Thanks!

Thanks!
The right side is the one when you have the blind with the slot in front of you. To be sure, before you disassemble it, unroll it and take a close view to the roller unit. The side with the bigger white plastic end is the one that has the winding device and that is the one you have to take apart with care to count the turns.

The blind is trimmed in a 90 degree angle with reference to the roller itself and starting in the roller itseft (the picture in point 20 shows the blind trimmed without the OEM border), because the excess of curtain that results from cutting 1 inch both sides will jam the sunblind. The trimming will meet the original edge about 2/3 the original lenght of it.

Ok, so it sounds like the stock configuration for the blind is slightly trapezoid, and what you are doing is making it square, starting the trim at 1 inch in from the edge of the roller @ 90 degrees, and this will meet up with the factory edge around 2/3rds. Thanks for the clarification.

That´s right!. The trim is obliged because the blind is 42 inches long and we only have little more that 40 inches.

Thanks. I bought it in a VW dealer. Part number 3C0-064-360. Recently, I have seen them at eBay, but not at $22 that was the price back then.
