I got annoyed with posting on social platforms this year because the interaction level was down. We still watched all 61 movies. Actually...we watched way more than 61, but at least 61 were on Shudder (as planned). If you really want the list, I did keep one.
Day 7: Host
https://www.imdb.com/title/tt12749596/?ref_=nv_sr_srsg_0
Based on a prank the director pulled on his friends. After the original video went viral online, he approached Shudder about making an actual film. Even though the film was scripted, the actors were encouraged to improvise...
Day 6: Monster Party
https://www.imdb.com/title/tt6556576/?ref_=fn_al_tt_1
This Shudder exclusive was filmed in only 17 days and has a 75% kill rate with 18 of 24 cast members biting the dust.
I thoroughly enjoyed this film. Was it amazing? No. But...it has a lot going for it. A decent cast...
ANOTHER BELATED POST
Day 5: Sweet Sweet Lonely Girl
https://www.imdb.com/title/tt5207320/
Another Shudder exclusive. This one was recommended by the curator for its jump scares. LIES! There was maybe one. This movie was definitely not my cup of tea. I read a lot of good reviews but I just...
BELATED POST
Day 4: Random Acts of Violence
https://www.imdb.com/title/tt1925493/?ref_=nv_sr_srsg_0
Another Shudder original! This was based on the graphic novel of the same title. I will say that it was better than I expected. The opening credit sequence seemed like it was taken from a White...
Going German tonight.
It was awkward and messy... refreshing to see a more realistic take on how people would react in that situation in the heat of the moment. ...and don't worry, the dog doesn't die.
Day 3: Angst
https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0165623/
Based on an actual case of triple-murder...
Day 2: Can't Take It Back
https://www.imdb.com/title/tt2142987/
This movie was recommended by Shudder's curator for jump scares. While I can say that there were definitely some, it unfortunately did not make up for the fact that this is just another lame teen horror flick.
4.1 on IMDb. Ouch.
Day 1 Recap:
OMG this was so good! Very "WTF" Lovecraft. The coloring was gorgeous. Parts were very much Cronenberg-esque. Nicholas Cage's part HAD to have been written just for him because it's so perfectly him. Oh...and alpacas.
Tonight's the night, friends!
I am beginning this 61-day journey with a Shudder Exclusive based on the 1927 short story by H.P. Lovecraft.
Day 1: Color Out Of Space
https://www.imdb.com/title/tt5073642/
The color used in this film to represent The Color is magenta, which doesn't exist as part...
Aw man, you're going to make me think of what I've seen...
2018 - The Perfection, Ready Player One, Game Night
2019 - Ready or Not, The Invisible Man, The Dirt
I've done a good deal of thinking on this year's horror fest. In all honesty, I was a little burnt out going into last year's and my heart wasn't 100% in it. I almost called it quits, thinking that a decade was long enough.
But you know...this year is different. This year is a freaking dumpster...
