American Honda today reported January 2013 U.S. sales of 93,626 units, an increase of 12.8 percent compared with January 2012. The Honda brand posted January 2013 sales of 84,137 units, an increase of 12.7 percent compared with January 2012. Acura U.S. January sales of 9,489 units increased 13.2 percent compared with January 2012.
Sales of the all-new 2013 Honda Accord were up more than 75 percent from last year - with 10,000 more Accords sold this January than in January 2012. The totally revised Accord has already become one of the most decorated vehicles in Honda history, garnering a host of awards that include being named for a record 27th time to Car and Driver magazine's 10Best Cars list, as well as winning key comparison tests against its mid-size rivals in comparisons from Car and Driver and Cars.com/USA Today/"MotorWeek". MARKHAM, ON (February 1, 2013) – Combined January sales of 7,220 units by the Honda and Acura divisions of Honda Canada Inc. represented 21% down from last year. The Honda Automobile Division reported January sales of 6,211 units, down 27% from last year, led by strong January sales of Honda Accord (up 147%) and Fit (up 68%). The Acura Division reported February sales of 1,009 units, up 41% over last year, led by strong sales of Acura RDX (up 136%).
“January 2012 was an exceptional sales month for us as we caught up to unfulfilled demand for Civic caused by lack of supply in the last three months of 2011,” said Jerry Chenkin, Executive Vice President, Honda Canada Inc. “Canadian consumers embraced Honda and Acura core pillar products in 2012 and we look forward to continued success in 2013.”
January highlights:
• Honda Accord begins the year as the best-selling vehicle in the intermediate segment.
• RDX had best January monthly sales with 370 units sold versus the previous best January in 2008 with 332 units sold.
Honda Canada has sold approximately 3.7 million Honda and Acura passenger cars and light-duty trucks in Canada since 1973. Of all Honda and Acura vehicles sold in Canada in January, 94% were produced at the company’s assembly plants in North America.
