Wondering if you guys have nay tips as to cameras and such... Materials I'd need, etc.

I already have a Nikon PnS, but I doubt its going to cut it.
Price isn't an major issue. I realize it easily gets high very quick though.

The plan is to do mostly stills. I don't have any experience in motion yet, but my guess is that's going to change soon.

As for the actual taking picture part, is there a better setting to have the camera on? Or is it mostly based on situation?

Input would be appreciated :)
Its a hobby, not a profession (though I have a degree in design, so that helps.)

BrutPhoto does car photography. He may want to chime in on his experiences and how he got into it. I know he uses a Canon 7d for his camera body, and has like 3 main lenses he uses the most.
Sigma 10-20 F4-5.6DC HSM
Sigma 70-200 f2.8 HSM II
Canon 28-105 7D Kit lens

he has links to his blog in most posts for additional pictures from other events he's covered.

There are a lot of great threads in this forum with tutorial vids that may be helpful.

Start off with something cheap. Don't blow all your money, cause if you end up not liking all the work that's involved, you got thousands of dollars of equipment that's losing value.

A cameras megapixel rating does NOT matter. Unless you get to the point where you're printing poster sized photographs, and even then it's iffy. If you're just shooting to post pics on flickr, any camera over 6mp will produce quality results.

I'm a photographer, shoot me a message if you need any advice or anything.

Just browsed your work on your thread hotshot. Nice stuff! I use a 7D too. I've been into photography since 2005 when I got my first Canon 20d. I now have a 7D and am about to get a 5Dmkiii because of work. I have done all kinds of photos from underwater stuff in surf on the North Shore of Oahu to filming in Tokyo, Japan. I am planning a trip with the guys from http://www.hybrid-racing.com/ to Japan and I'll be doing some filming for them as we visit cool spots and the main tuner shops. Should be a blast.

I went to Japan last year and met up with my buddy that is currently living in Tokyo and building up his DC5 type R. When I filmed this everything he had was practically stock on the car but now its a beast. Here is a little short I put together just of random clips I wasn't really planning on using.

I have a few L lenses that I can't live without right now. The Canon 24-70 f/2.8L and the 70-200 f/2.8L IS II.
I have been getting more serious about filming nowadays. I love being behind the lens and now behind the steering wheel of my 2012 Si.
