We have a 40" now, I want 60" but she will probably only go for a 50". My goal by Jan is to have my own entertainment room.

Do you have an LCD, LED or plasma TV? If you have an LCD, Samsung is the best, IMHO (and no, that's not just because I'm Korean :giggle:).
I has a 32" but I want something bigger. We don't have HD cable tho.. :hiding:

That's what I have, too - Samsung LCD, 720p, 60 Hz, and 8000:1 contrast ratio :)

There is a common issue with them that when you hit the on button it takes forever to turn itself on. Wifey researched it and found we had to upgrade part of the circuit board. I bought the parts and had a friend help me saulder on the new parts. TV has been working fine since......Repair man would have charged up to 500 bucks to fix. It cost me 40 in parts and 20 minutes to fix it.

That's how mine is too. Older model LCDs are just like that because they have to "warm up" to display a quality picture; the technology to display an instant picture just wasn't feasible/economical back then.

I have a Westinghouse 32" LCD TV. It was cheap. I've had it since '06. No issues with it. Sara-Beth (my fiancee) I bought her a Dynex (Best Buy Brand) 32" LCD TV for her birthday last year (August) and it's a year old with no issues. I don't currently live with her but at my house and her house we don't have HDTV. We don't want to spend the extra money. I'm not a movie person but we only watch TV shows/On-Demand. Can't justify the extra $$ per month.. :/

I wanted a 60+ inch TV but the price between a 54 and a 60 inch was my deciding factor, so I got a 54 Toshiba ad it fits in the space great..

I bet. I really wish I could have afforded a 1080p, at least 120 Hz TV at the time that I bought the one I have now, but I couldn't :( I wanna upgrade soon, grrr!
