Breast-Feeding Doll Hitting Stores Soon

Story posted 2011.07.19 at 10:48 AM EDT

Adults have been prepping little kids for adulthood in a lot of wacky ways over the years, but a Spanish company's new breast-feeding doll for kids may take the cake.

The Breast Milk Baby works by making motions and suckling sounds when a sensor in its mouth gets close to a flowery halter top the child wears while "breast-feeding."

The doll has already seen success in Europe, generating more than $2 million in sales for its maker, Berjuan Toys, since it was first released in Spain four years ago.

But the reception in the United States has been mixed.

Some parents aren't happy. And on a recent episode of "The O'Reilly Factor," Bill O'Reilly criticized the doll, saying, "I don't like it. . . . There's a lot of harm being done to children."

The dollmaker says it's just teaching children nurturing skills.

"There's absolutely nothing sexual about breast-feeding, "Berjuan Toys U.S. spokesman Dennis Lewis said. "It's good for mommies, it's good for babies, it's good for society."

WOW. If someone is willing to spend $90 on a doll then go for it. I don't really agree with it. Women are educated about the benefits of breastfeeding before the babies birth and right after. You don't have to learn as a toddler. Next there will be dolls with anatomically correct body parts that teach young children about sex while their in elementary school.

How? WTF? It's a stupid expensive toy but it's not teaching them anything bad. It's ridiculous what type of reactions people have.

^ I agree with you.

If I had a child, they simply wouldn't have it because I'm not gonna waste 90 bucks. As far as encouraging teen pregnancy, well my mom always told my sister and myself "you better not bring anything home we cant put on the dinner table." Even thought I know some kids are rebellious towards parents, I believe parents are due a little more blame in their child getting pregnant.

(Hope I didn't just start an off-topic war with this lol)
