Is it okay to remove this off a under a stock shift knob to install a taller one

It holds up the leather in the shift boot for the stock knob my knob sits lower

i mean it works I just dony want to remove an important piece

all that does is holds the shift boot up and works like a lock nut to keep the stock knob in place. You can take it off, it won't hurt anything. If you leave it on though your new shift knob will sit higher.

My new shift knob has a thread that sits rlly high up so I had to remove it but thanks ^_^
