2012 Honda Civic Coupe Gets 500HP For Sema Show

Tuning firm specialists Fox have given the 2012 Honda Civic Coupe some serious upgrades. How does 500hp sound?

Although the Frankfurt Auto Show is currently taking place, we're already looking towards this year's SEMA show this November. And now tuning company Fox plans to seriously upgrade a 2012 Civic coupe for the event.Under the hood, the tuners are in the final stages of preparing a 500hp turbocharged engine to power the newly redesigned coupe. The Civic will also receive an upgraded chassis and extensive exterior modifications.

In other words, the aftermarket specialists have given the Civic coupe a touch of what goes into a supercar that should make for a very impressive debut.SEMA will kick off from November 1st to 4th in beautiful and sunny Las Vegas. While we can't guarantee the people will hit any jackpots, we can say that Fox has likely hit the jackpot with this project. You can also check out the series of photos they've released of the car going through the final building process.

update:

I've come to learn that Full Race is actually the company in charge of the turbo work on this car.

This is really cool. I have been wondering how tuners will get around the cast in exhaust manifold in the head. I kind of figured that with the added displacment and the right turbo setup, this car is capable of some serious power. Gotta love 500hp. And, I wonder how they are tuning it unless Hondata and Doug MacMillan have a secret tune?

Doug from hondata was doing data logging on a previous dyno test (maybe a few weeks ago @ church's auto). I'm not suggesting this is hondata though.

Ugly wheels, ugly body kit.

Maybe a head swap going on in there?....nevermind...i see the composite IM in the pic

Kevin, are you still in touch with Doug? I am really happy for the people who buy a new 2012 Si because they will be able to mod away right away and have a proper tune. Those of us who had an '06 or '07 Si had to wait about 3 years for Hondata to come out with the FlashPro. If FP had not come out, the 8th Gen design Si would still be stuck with a few basic bolt ons.

I haven't talked to Doug recently, no. I wouldn't be so sure that tuning will be available out of the gate. The sema show introducing the 8thcivic had at least one turbo kit. I'd have to go back and look, but I'm thinking it was the greddy car. Obviously, we know that didn't result in an instant option. Hopefully a lot can be learned in like a month.

If Hondata comes out with tuning out of the gate, then the companies producing aftermarket parts will begin to churn out parts to meet the demand. Hopefully, we will see more tuning/aftermarket companies coming on board this site to stir the pot.

Well, there are some similarities to previous k engines, but there are also some changes. It'll be interesting to hear if the ecu differences cause problems.

Church-
Doug from Hondata was there doing full datalogging with his extended software suite. So there's that......No knock, knock limit not exceeded, knock multiplier continuously decreasing during the runs. Yet, we'd see massive variations from run to run. I'm sure the knock ignition limit is quite low, but that doesn't explain the run to run variations. Given that the knock ignition limit was decreasing, we should have seen improving power. We did not.

I want to see the TORQUE numbers! :giggle: :rotfl:

Hope the traction is there....

I remember there was an 8th Civic.. Fiji Sedan that had a turbo setup and it was great on the highway but spun through the gears from the start.. I forget the name.. Thought it was in the Mid-Atlantic.. :/

Edit: SRT was the company
