DIY 2013-2015 Ambient Light Kit

Sorry to bump an old thread; but, I was looking at adding the red (08E10-TR0-100C) kit to my 2012 Si; however, it says it is only compatible with 2013-2015 Civics. For the 2012, only 08E10-TR0-100B is offered which is listed as being blue (but, I would that think would contrast with the red accents of the Si). Can the 08E10-TR0-100C be fitted into the 2012 model or are the harnesses (or other items) physically different (I am still learning the subtle differences between the 9th gen Civic model years)? Or, would I have to buy both 08E10-TR0-100B (for the harness and mounts) and 08E10-TR0-100C (for the ambient lights) to make it work?

Doing further research, I may have figured this out. It looks like 08E10-TR0-100B comes with 3 LEDs where as 08E10-TR0-100C only comes with 2. To me, that would mean the harnesses are physically different (amongst other reasons I'm probably not sure of). However, I can get 08E10-TR0-100B and then buy three 34760-TL0-G01 red LEDs to swap out for the blue and then get what I'm after. Does this sound feasible (are the LEDs interchangeable?)?

I was looking at it, and is the factory kit really worth it? so much cash for just 2 puny led's? wouldnt it be easier to grab a $10 ebay kit and run it off a fuse tap?
the only reason i can think of for using this would be to stick to being "100% oem"/not modded
 
I have an eBay one in my car and it has tons of different colors and options can even feed of my stereo to have a classy in car light show. Also can control the lights from my phone. $25.
