I just finished 2 days of HPDE at the local track, with my 2012 Civic Si. As usual, there were quite a few Corvettes, Porsches, and BMWs who would pop up in my rear-view mirror from time to time. However, during one of the 30 minute on track sessions, it rained. This was my first time driving in the rain, and the car LOVED it.
All the Corvettes, etc, with their fat tires and 500 plus HP engines were tip-toeing around like they were on ice skates, while I, in my mighty FWD Si, blew past them. I can usually pass an occasional higher powered car, if the driver is still timid about driving deep into the turns before stomping on the brakes. This time out, however, I actually *LAPPED* a Porsche!
It still makes me smile.
If I'm going to keep going to the track, I think I'll need to buy a dedicated track car soon. I worry about flogging my daily ride so hard, even though the car doesn't seem to mind.
