Getting used to the CVT?

Hi, I'm new here and I'm note sure if I'm posting this in the right area. I've just (sadly) traded my 2000 Honda CRV for a 2014 Civic EX-L. Don't get me wrong, the Civic is really nice but I LOVED my old car. The one thing I'm finding hard to get used to is the CVT. When I really step on the gas, it seems to hesitate a bit before accelerating. I realize it's not going to be the same as my old CRV but is this the nature of a CVT? Thanks for your help!

It's basically the nature of the cvt. It's just the way the system works with the belt changing as you press the gas pedal.
