Anybody notice that all hatchbacks have windshield wipers?
In addition to the cars where the glass is perpendicular to the floor, you get vacuum air flow blah blah blah...
What about the cars that look like sedans/coupes?

etc...

Ummm not sure what you're asking..... but.... I think the decision for a wiper or not depends on the wind tunnel testing or airflow analysis the companies do. Certain cars seem to cause all the air to whip onto the rear glass and cause it to be filthy. Other car "shapes" don't have that happen and therefore don't need one. I see lots of SUVs with the vertical rear window and it's covered in dirt.

As in, the RSX, Celica and the Mazda 6's are all hatch backs.
They don't have a vertical door, so logically speaking, don't necessarily need a wiper.
Still... They have a wiper...

The angle of the glass and the way the roofline is shaped causes a lot of dirt to get on the window. If you notice some VWs with vertical rear glass don't have wipers because of the small spoiler at the top of the hatch.

It all has to do with aerodynamics and where the dirt ends up.

No no webby.

Just wondering cuz there are cars that are shaped like sedans and coupes but have wipers.
