ipad in honda civic lxs 2014

in that post above, I guess I'm intrigued how you went from the 4th pic to the 5th pic where it's painted. Prior to that all of the pics just show the fiberglass mold you're making. How did you connect that piece to the trim piece that's shown painted in post 5? Something like car bondo and a bunch of sanding?
