Sorry to hear you got caught up by an inapt road user............ The only way to keep these things from happening is to be aware, and in this case there was no time to do anything....... Which is why the 2/3 sec. rule applies for following, and to go a step further add another sec. if someone behind you is inside your 2 sec.'s margin at your rear..........
