Hi everyone

I would like to buy a radar and laser detector cause I dont know nothing about it and cause i'm heading back home in few weeks and the speed traps there is like the traffic lights here so What is the best radar and laser detector and why?

Thanks everyone

I have a 12-band POS Cobra radar/laser detector. It does it's job, but it gives unnecessary readings such as automatic doors and other devices with radar equipped on it. I also don't speed much. I only use the Cobra to tell me if there's a cop that's close to me.

Radar/Laser detectors can't really help you from laser guns. Once the laser gun is pointed at you, the radar/laser detector will alert you, but your speed is already read.

I'm a big fan of Escort radar detectors. If you want the best buy the Escort Passport 9500ix. It has excellent long range detection for the highway and in the city it does not give you many false alerts. A matter of fact it learns your driving routes via Gps and locks out false signals after they are detected a couple of times. It alerts you about red light cameras again with GPS and the software can be updated via the internet when new red light cameras are added.

You want to be sure when your radar detectors goes off that you take it very seriously. If it is always giving you false alarms you begin to ignore it and then when it's a real threat you are caught off guard. I would suggest buying the very best if not you will be paying the difference with the speeding tickets you accumulate. Yes a great radar detector can be pricey but it will more than pay for it self over time.

I have learned over the past 25 years that you are best off not speeding. That is the easiest way to avoid a ticket. But for those moments that your not paying attention to your speed or the road opens up and you want to have a little fun having a great radar detector is essential for protecting yourself. Mine has saved me so many times I have lost count. Oh by the way I have not had a speeding ticket in over 10 years.

My last tip, if you are going to speed with a radar detector always have a rabbit. What's a rabbit? It's someone who is already driving 5, 10, 15, 20 mph over the speed limit. This rabbit is the person you follow. Obviously if a police officer is shooting radar they will most likely get the ticket first but I believe more importantly you will be alerted via your radar detector that a police officer is ahead, giving you plenty of time to react and slow down.

Best of luck.

I agree with this, and I'm someone that has a hard wire mounted V1. If I would have to choose, it would definitely be between Escort Passport 9500ix and V1 ver 1.8. V1 has directional radar but at the same time its about 100-125+ over the escort. Both are really well built and reliable. I've used both over the last 8 years. It depends on where your financial stands and what you are looking for.

Ok what about the Escort Redline? is it better?

I believe the Redline is built for long range detection on the highway. Probably means more false alerts in town. I also don't think the Redline has GPS built in. But I'm sure it is good at long range detection.

Do some reading. If you really want to speed radar and laser are what you need in combination. The escort radar detector usually scores very well. Consider a laser jammer as well since most places are using laser especially on highways.
I ran a lidatek le-10 laser jammer a few years ago, they are currently up to the le-30's? I think. It worked very well.
Obviously - don't speed. But if you have to... read this site...

I have the earlier version of that radar the 9500i and ive had it since 2006 and so well worth the money. The rabbit idea works great for the laser whic this radar pickls up but by the time it picks it up its too late if youre the one it picked up. Im even thinking about upgrading mines to that one. I paid 500 with the blue option for the color.
