Thoughts and suggestions on how to create a custom badgeless grill

Not sure of what kind of mesh to use that can curve like the way the oem grill does. They have honeycomb grill sheets on ebay but not sure if it will bend. Any suggestions of how to go about this?

I might have to buy an aftermarket grill and cut out the honeycomb myself and fill it in. Any other thoughts?

The way the Volkswagen guys do it is purchase a second grill and plastic weld the extra honeycomb portion in place of the emblems. It's very time consuming.
