What is a offset and what is the offset of my stock rims

I have 2015 civic si and I want to get rims but I honestly have no clue what and offset is or what the stock offset is. If someone could please explain I would be greatful

Off-set....... You looking to end up with the rim sitting closer to the middle of the car, or farther out. and that's done by where the rim and spokes are meeting.

What that does is control the fit so it doesn't hit the brake calipers, or rub the finder.

Offset measures off the center line of a wheel. A wheel with a deep lip on it would have a lower offset or negative offset.
