I have a civic sedan with a few mods. I would like to know whether or not it would be a good decision to trade it in for a '13 SI. My mother bought herself the '12 EX and within a few days decided to pass down the car to me (along with the payments.) I have been trying to make the car more exciting for me, after all I am a 21 year old! I have added a cat back exhaust, cai, coilovers, rear sway bar and camber arms. I have recently purchased a TBS in hopes of adding any little extra performance that I can but still don't feel 100% satisfied. I've had it for a little under a year and have roughly 6k miles on it. I am still paying it off and have about $10k to go. I'm a full time employee / student. I really want an SI but every time I hop in my car I change my mind. Help!?

I had a 12 civic lx coupe, was dying to have the Si, owed $13K on it, traded it in March for my red 13 Si coupe... LOVED EVERY MINUTE OF THIS DECISION !!!!

Any pros / cons with the trade? It's actually my first car and I thought I'd be happier. Not that theres anything wrong with the car I just want MORE !!! :turbospin:

The LX was better mpg( and I ran 87 octane in it) my si runs 93 and it goes quickly.

James Tittle I use 89 grade on my lx. Is there a specific octane grade requirement for the si?

Phillip Lambrecht Thanks for the heads up! I still can't seem to have a definitive answer. I've been debating for about a month now. I know I'll be content with the si but being that the lx is my first car, I seem to have some emotional attachment going on

The si runs on 92 octane, also if you get your ecu mapped it has much better gas milage. I drive very aggressive and was getting 25mpg before the re flash now I am at 30mpg. I can get better milage if I calm down on the revs lol. As far as the difference between the of and si, go test drive one and you will feel it. I love my SI! I'm glad I didn't get something else!

I threaded my 12 EX for a 12 Si a few months ago and never looked back. The Si is so much more fun to drive and the extra HP is very noticeable. I was able to keep my payments around $40 more a month and that was with the negative equity. You can probably still get a 12 on a lot somewhere for around 20k. It's worth looking into. As far as insurance, mine stayed the same, but I am 30 so that probably makes a difference. I say DO IT if you can score a deal. I had all the leverage when I did my trade and almost walked out on the deal a few times before I got EXACTLY what I wanted.

Did you have to put any money down on top of your trade in?

Just looked online and my closest dealer still has like 6 Si's all listed in the 21k range. I'm soooo tempted!!!

I am now the proud owner of a 2012 SOP FG4 :vtec: anyone who is considering trading do it! They pretty much have me this car that's how bad they want to get rid of them. I went up 60 dollars a month and they transferred my warranty at no extra cost and paid my down payment. Took a little finagling but I just got it all finalized

Congrats man! You even got the same color as me! It's a beautiful color. I'm sure you're going to love every minute of your new Si. Kick in that vtec yo!
