    Bad alternator?

I may be "all wet", or old school. Your readings may be "normal" as Honda may now be using a dual mode charging system. If so, the loose battery clamps were your only problem. Check out this article http://opensiuc.lib.siu.edu/cgi/viewcontent.cgi?article=1011&context=auto_pres

    Bad alternator?

Normal charging shouldn't exceed 13.7-13.9 for a normal fully-charged battery. The 12.1-12.8 while giving it gas implies there is/remains an intermittant in the sensing circuit that's either turning down the alternator output, or not reading it correctly. The alternator seems to be okay as...

Type R Crash At The Ring

Posted in wrong area. So the guy who said all 4 CTRs that his dealership contact said they had pre-sold might be telling a "little white lie"!!!

    Bad alternator?

YES - think intermittant. Flickering power/lights/electronics reset. Puzzled as to how the connections got loose in the first place. Oh, and be careful not to overtighten the battery clamps as they are likely made of lead and stretch - just get tight enough so the clamp doesn't move/rotate on...

    Bad alternator?

See entry #25 above - voltage variation implies bad connection (ECU/alternator a very distant second). Loose clamps are a no-no. Remove & clean posts and clamps - they must be tight!

    Bad alternator?

Did you "extend" the battery cables when you relocated the battery? If so, unless you installed new high quality cables, not splices, and not more than 6 - 18 inches longer and at least 2 gauges lower, this could very well be your issue. Unless your audio amp is shorting out I find it...

    Bad alternator?

If by the "car shut off and restarted it self" you mean it "skipped a beat" then you're looking for a cable short/intermittent likely rubbing on your shifter or linkage. If literally the starter engaged to re-crank it - GOKs! Retrace/remove any wiring you've modified as that's the likely (99%)...

Best way to remove the JDM emblem

Unless you use an inverter or have a special heat gun - Don't try this at home - you'll blow the fuse and smoke the gun. Car is 12vdc heat gun is 120vac - serious smoke. Most heat guns are 1200W which is 100 amps at 12 volts = BIG FUSE!

    Filling up tires after driving

Great choice! Then you have TPMS. If it didn't come on and the IMED message about low tire pressure didn't display then you were at better than 28 psi to begin with. Try another gauge, or get your own - even a cheap one is better than nothing.

    Filling up tires after driving

What year/model car do you have? Does your car have the TPMS? If so it alerts at about 28 psi (4 psi low) on our '12 Si . In any event 30 won't be too high but if you really were at 23 that could be dangerously low if you're carrying passengers and on the hiway for any length of time...

    Filling up tires after driving

Do you have a decent air gauge - if not get one as the station pumps are usually inaccurate. Check tires cold, after sitting overnight is best, at home and note pressure in each. If low or imbalanced (different pressure(s) in one or more tires) note which tire is closest to 32 psi take it to...

Drop in MPG, 2012 Civic EX-L

As noted elsewhere winter & gas mix reduce our Si mileage almost 3 mpg - new tires (same type as oem - mx4s) cost us another 1 mpg for the first 15k miles but it's gradually increasing. It costs our '98 Civic 5 mpg Summer to Winter.

LIMP Mode Problem: Appreciate the help...

As stated above the Power Train Warranty is 5 year/60,000 miles. Fuel cutoff is at 7300 rpms and bouncing off it won't hurt the engine. Your ECU records max revs or over rev incidents - have them dump ECU readings and prove to you that it was over reved.

turning fog lights on with high beam switch

    1) You want fogs to work with low beams not high - high beams in fog will "blind" you. Just wire them (fogs and High Beams) to come on together - I never turn my fogs off. 2) Battery dying isn't an issue if the motor is running. Don't imagine an overload on the circuit breaker unless you are...

Weird issue, don't know what it is.

Strange. Was RPM rise actual (can hear it) or just the tach (see needle move) & vTech lights come on when giving it gas? Either way take it in.

2016 Honda Civic Pricing & Info Released

Understood, but in terms of features and options it'll be close (would love the ROAD SIGN reader feature). I'm interested in what will be the content offered. Thus far the only "deal-breaker" noted is apparent lack of a moon-roof. Based on the on-line reviews ride and handling (other than the R...
