    Keeping My Knob Warm...

We've been using a piece of faux leather (JoAnn Fabrics) tied on with a fancy (boot lace) shoestring. We've had to re-tie it once or twice in 3 years and it works great in hot weather too.

Trans making a noise in reverse

If you were under power, gassing it as opposed to braking or coasting, it's all related and won't be warranty. Sounds like you killed the suspension, drivetrain, and wheels/tires. Suspension and drivetrain, in normal vehicles, aren't designed to take sideloads and a curb is the worst thing to...

Trans making a noise in reverse

Must have been a monster pothole. Re the 2nd gear issue it would be helpful to know the Model Year of Si, purchased new or used, mileage.

Help clean front seat from Coffee (2014) & no heated garage (minus 10 outside)

If you need to warm the seat use a hair dryer on medium or low - you just want to get the spill to liquefy (30-40 degrees F (0-5 C)) should do it. Never use a heat gun unless you're intending to melt something, or start a fire. The under layer of a seat can easily catch fire and smolder for...

airbag light coming on on hot days

Just had our 26k oil change - with air & pollution filters also. Next time we drove car the Imid message ...Check Airbag System... came on after driving a couple of blocks. Next time it was fine (no message). A day later the wife said it came on twice with same message. Took it to dealer who...

Gas Prices - what are they where you live now

For both the 2006-11 & 12- Civic Si Honda recommends PON 91 or higher and states you can use 87 or higher but it will result in decreased engine performance (loose horsepower) and may get ocassional knocking. The horsepower loss in the stock Si is minor with at least one tuner stating they ran...

Gas Prices - what are they where you live now

The second reason why our Si lives on regular! First reason is it runs fine on 87. I'd rather have a bottle of wine or a 6-pack than **ss away my bucks. Several other contributors disagree.

Help me cure my "Amish Buggy Syndrome" 2014 Civic LX

Much more likely an out of balance or bad tire. That may also be the cause of the rough ride where a bump generates a very short term vibration. Our '98 Ex has thrown weights more than once (over 150,000 miles). Struts/linkage are much more likely to generate control issues (wandering or, in...

    2014 Civic EX Gas Mileage

BTW the numbers I mentioned - '89 Probe (36mpg) , '98 civic (36 mpg), '12 Si (33 mpg) - are the combined (all miles driven). The worst full tank run for the Si was 29.7 (once in winter near zero all intown, once on road trip in Florida with full-time AC and running 9 over to 79 mph). Best was...

    2014 Civic EX Gas Mileage

Probably the way we drive but we average slightly better than the Federal highway mpg for our last 3 cars '89 Probe (36mpg) , '98 civic (36 mpg), '12 Si )33 mpg) - all hand (actually Excel) calculated . We're in a rural area with lots of short .5 to 5 mile trips.

    2014 Civic EX Gas Mileage

Was your quick search the same as mine? http://www.ohmygas.com/gas-station/Shell-173-North-St-Cheshire-MA-01225/4751 It does say 13.9 however Premium is listed as $3.779 - I just paid $2.819 at that station on 12-4-14. Another Google hit...

    2014 Civic EX Gas Mileage

We've done 79 fills (26k miles+), 78 with 87 octane (remember this is the minimum, by law - it could be higher) only 1 was "Premium" 91 (on a trip and 91 was only 10 cents more per gallon). Noticed absolutely no difference in performance or mileage. In my opinion the '12 Si runs fine on...

    2014 Civic EX Gas Mileage

Our Imid is almost always 6% high vs calculated - short fills, multiple "shutoff clicks", and unfamiliar gas pumps can easily drive it to being 10% off. That said a "lighter foot" should get you near 30 mpg average - we average over 32 (29 - 38 mpg per tank). BTW we have a '12 Si Sedan.

    Full Race Exhaust Rattle...

Any chance you can use a "come-along" to pull the two parts back together? If you loosen the clamps and can get a good, even grip on each piece, a "come-along" can exert tremendous pull. Be careful not to overdo it or you could crush the pipes (stovepipe). Most tractor/farm supply stores...
