2012 Honda Civic Si is lagging pretty bad

Good news - But the "engine over speed" code is not the correct term (it may be what the "Code Book" says). As the stock '12- Si Fuel cut-off number is 7300 rpm and a lot of owners have hit it; this sounds more like an "unusual engine acceleration detected" event. Either way, if below 7300 rpm...

help with a clutch kit please...

May just be the load of the AC compressor - when at idle. Ours makes more noise (and it's a clak-clak-clak) when the AC cuts in, but I've never tried to relate it to a clutch issue. As it's under warranty take it to any dealer.

2012 Honda Civic Si is lagging pretty bad

Grabbing 2nd instead of 4th at 62mph - peak torque point in 4th - puts rpms at 8600 = TOAST Suspect VTEC doesn't anymore - The VTEC light on the dash is just an rpm indicator, not the valve profile changing.

    Love my civic cvt

About 60% "city" 40% highway - but it doesn't make much difference 31 Winter and 33+ summer. AC and 75+ will drive it down to about 29 mpg.

    Love my civic cvt

Take a serious look at the Si - it's $200 more than the EX-L and all you give up (that I quickly checked on) is Leather, heated/power seats & mirrors, and about 3 mpg actual (we've averaging 32+ in our '12 Si). You gain a better radio and an awesome 6-speed manual. We live in the Berkshires @...

2012 Civic MPG - share your current gas mileage

Impressive. My only highway run at that speed 312miles was 29.7 mpg with the AC on. Was this an average over some distance or just a short run?

2012 Civic MPG - share your current gas mileage

Civics love backroad rural driving (ie below 60 and not VTEC). I've hit 47.7 indicated (about 45 actual) on a 40+ mile run (the first part of 400+ mile vacation run thru Vermont & New Hampshire).

    Considering and Si

Appreciate your feedback but not sure where you're reading the above... page 234 of my 2012 Owners manual says "Fuel Information ■ Fuel recommendation 2.4 ℓ engine models Unleaded premium gasoline, pump octane number 91 or higher Use of a lower octane gasoline can cause occasional metallic...

    Considering and Si

We've been extremely pleased with our 2012 Si Sedan. Ride is not bad at all but we have 17 wheels. Roomy and Performance is super (comparable to my '68 RoadRunner - but with handling & brakes). At 20,000 miles we're averaging over 32 mpg (actual) on 87 octane (low 28 high 37+). We're both...

DIY 2012 Civic Si Ambient Lights (Red/Si)

With respect to (wrt) your last questions - Yes and Yes - OEM kit switch is through the parking/headlight switch which allows you to have them ON or OFF when the lights are on - either through light on/off switch or the Auto option. We got the Blue light kit - because the Red set was late into...

    feeling sluggish / low mpg

Ours started dropping in early December. It's colder this year and on short trips (Cheshire to C. J.'s etc) we're down to about 30 mpg vs 32 last year.

    2015 Subaru WRX Concept

At 6'1" 205 lbs our 2012 Si Sedan seats felt tight in the thighs for the first few weeks but have felt great for the last 106! Might depend on what you're coming from - ours was a '98 Civic EX coupe which has very comfortable seats but no bolstering.

TomTom XXL540s WTE mounted on TT beanbag mount laying in tray in front of shifter of our '12Si. It's out of the way and works great.

    Thinking about buying Si!

Our '12 Si is one of the easiest manuals to learn and drive - great clutch action and fantastic gearbox (shifter). Our '89 Probe was a close second, our '85 MR2 was the hardest.

2012 Civic MPG - share your current gas mileage

Our Imid Display runs 6.5% (2 mpg) high - but still averaging 32.3 mpg over 18,000+ miles (lo 29.7 winter or 75+ with AC on; 37.7 high hiway to 65mph some AC)
