Hi guys, the problem I'm having is 6th gear on my brand new Civic Si coupe HFP will not engage from 5th shifting around 2500 to 3000 rpm, I have to put it in nutrual, de-clutch and reclutch again to put it in 6th gear. I been driving manual for over 14 years, most of them 6 speeds, from back in the days of Mitsubishi 3000GT VR4 to 350Z to 328i to A3... So I'm very certain I'm not putting it in 4th gear or reverse, I know exactly the position for those... almost every time I have to double clutch to put it in 6th gear... Any one else having this problem ? I'm going to bring it into the dealership tomorrow and watch them drive.

I have always thought that 6th was a bit more notchy/sticky than it should be. It is less so after I installed a short shift adapter, though.

i think the reverse locking mechanism covers too much into 6th gear, but i'm suprised there arnt more people with this problem... maybe i just got a defective tranny then..

I really haven't had a problem with mine other than hitting 4th a few times the first few days I had it.

I'd get it checked for sure.

We had trouble "finding" 6th for the first few days until we figured out it's just straight back from 5th with "no effort" to move the shifter to the right. But, if you're worried take it to the dealer to check out.

Any update on this? I find my 6th gear difficult to engage at times as well.

Mine has always worked fine once I got used to where it was. I'd suggest to take it in if you're having issues.
