I have a white 2014 civic EX. I am new to modding cars etc, but I want to know if it is appropriate to add CAI Exuast and any other mods to the vehicle since it is an automatic. stupid question I know but I also don't wanna get **** on later by "enthusiasts" calling me a poser etc.

Hey, welcome to the site! It's your car, do what you want with it! There are lots of owners here with modded non-SI cars and automatics. As long as you don't get an obnoxiously loud exhaust and try and race people you will only have issues with people who have issues themselves.
I will say that you won't see the gains from putting those parts on your EX that you would with an Si. If you want to do it just for the heck of it, then go for it. You won't gain much hp though. The R18 is a great economy engine but it definitely lacks a bit of performance. Some slight mods here and there can make it a lot more fun to drive.
Suspension, wheels/tires, and some cosmetic changes aren't bad places to start.

awesome thanks for the reply. I am not interested in racing so that's not an issue, I would like to know what engine mods to do for increasing gas mileage and horsepower if any. im mostly thinking cosmetic for now. I was thinking of ordering the red jdm badges would that be a good place to start

....... My record is 48.9 mpg, just think how many ppl would be complaining if I had the job of testing mileage for Honda.......
1st thing is to have your tyres inflated according to the door sticker, take it out of traction control, learn to use the cruise control appropriately for achieving better mileage(can get into how if interested?).
I was getting my 48.9 doing a ride at speeds from 60 to 70 mph, and was going from a lower to higher altitude.
As for local driving, looking as far down the road as possible so you can keep as steady a pace as possible, without having to brake or accelerate will work the best, drive-through fast food places will kill it.
Also using your shifter can do a lot for performance. Knowing what each gear does helps as well..... 1st is 1st only.......2nd is 2nd only....3rd is 1st thru 3rd......Drive is 1st thru 2,3,4, &5.......
I've replaced the chicken wire for a rear sway bar, 22mm thick, very good improvement($200+ from "Progress").

@Monk he or she has a CVT hehe so there's Sport and Low instead!@s4ndm4n I was just reading about R18 mods and there are some great threads around here. It seems like lighter wheels are the first step to a faster car!

im looking at doing a CAI and exaust system next then new wheels and tires. cosmetic wise I put the rear window visor and debadged the civic emblem.
Yeah instead of PRND321 you have PRNDSL (sport and low) because the 14s have the CVT! Wack mean good or bad?

Not knowing the CVT system, I'd say it(the book) should explain what each gear setting is capable of doing, which would be a good thing to know.
You don't want to go into a turn or what ever and throw it into a gear that should be 2nd, and find that it can also be 3rd, so it won't slow down as much as you wanted.
The econ button can be useful in keeping things smoother/slower reacting than not using it, and of course visa versa.
