2014 Civic LX Car shutting off/losing power after HID install

Hello everyone. I am brand new to these forums and don't know where to post this issue, but I'll post it here since it's sort of electrical.

My car is a 2014 Honda Civic LX Coupe with 2800+ miles.
The car is about 3 1/2 months old.
The HIDs I bought from Amazon are Kensun, here is the link: http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00802GIC4/ref=twister_B00802ELHI
I am not very good with cars, I actually had a friend help me install the HIDs.

Issue:
I bought some HIDs from Amazon and installed them with help from a friend. The install was simple, basic plug and play. After installation, I tested it out by turning the HIDs on and they worked, but I noticed my car feeling like it was losing power and was about to shut off. As this happened, I gave it some gas for a couple minutes and it felt normal again. I left the lights on and everything was good. I took the car out for a drive around the block and everything was fine as well.

The next morning was a gloomy morning so I turned my HIDs on and the same thing happened - the car felt like it was going to turn off at any moment, so I did the same thing and gave it some gas. Just to be safe I turned the lights off and drove to work. While pulling away at stop lights, my car felt like it was struggling to move forward. It felt like it was going to turn off at any moment, like it was stumbling and then it finally did turn off in the middle of the road at a stop light. When this happened, I turned the emergency lights on and waited a few seconds. I then turned the car back off and then back on and it worked again. The lights were already off during this period of stumbling.

The check engine light did come on at one point and it said "Check emission systems". The mechanic who checked it for me said his scanner was too old to tell what the code was so he just deleted it.

Solutions I've tried:
1. The very first thing I did was go to a mechanic my friend knew. I told him what happened and he said that my HIDs shouldn't cause my car to turn off like that. He said that a lot of cars have HIDs and they're fine, plus my car is a brand new car.
He didn't know what would be causing it.
Note: I didn't bring my car to the dealership since I don't want to void any warranties with the car being brand new.
2. I called the Kensun company about it and they were no help. They said they needed more information and when I described the process of my installation to them, they said it sounds correct because they are plug and play. The only thing they could think of was that I am missing some sort of relay kit or warning corrector, but the man stated that those are mostly needed only in European cars. The only thing he suggested was that I went to speak with a mechanic about why the HIDs would cause this.
3. What I've done now is uninstalled the HIDs and put my old bulbs back in and I never have this issue any more.

What I would like to know is if anyone knows what can be causing this problem and if anyone else has had this problem? If so, how can I fix it? Also, is there anything I did wrong during installation? Can it be the product itself is faulty?

Any feedback is helpful. I am new to the forums and this is actually my own first car. I am not good with cars at all so please try not to be too technical.

Thank you all in advance!

It sounds like something isn't hooked up right. My main guess is that you need to run a wiring harness. The change from the 9006 bulbs to the H11 on the new 14' cars are probably a higher wattage and the cheap ballasts therefore have an even worse amp draw than ever. There are quite a few people running without a relay harness but ideally you should run one. It allows the ballasts to draw power directly from the battery instead of trying to overload the stock wiring. Cheap ballasts can have an extremely high amp draw especially at startup. It's strange that it's happening once the car is already on.

Buy a relay harness and get that installed ASAP. If you overload your stock wiring and it burns up or melts somewhere you will have a very expensive fix on your hands. Using a wiring harness will still allow you to use the stock headlight controls.

Yea, it's all I could come up with though. The change of bulb size and possibly wattage. Other than something being loose. it sounds like the car suffers when its sitting still but does fine when the gas is pressed and the alternator picked up speed.

If the problem persists, take it back to the dealer, since you put the oem bulbs back in. There could be other issues going on your not aware, wouldn't recommend having other mechanics or shops messing around with the car if they are not knowledgeable. Plus you wanna get any problems you have fix now before the warranties laspe.

I will guess you have a faulty ballast. If you Google "HID kit problem car stalling" you will see that there are a few people who have had a similar problem.
