225/55/17 versus 225/45/17

I have a bead on a set of snows for the '12 Si. Right now I am using stock size rims ('06 RSX S) and stock tires (225/45/17) with 15mm spacers front and 20mm rear. How will the middle number "55" affect the tire-size difference? Are the 55's a little larger total diameter? Will they fit? Oh, and I'm about 1.2 inches lower on Eibach prokit springs. Any advice would be appreciated.

55 is the sidewall size, so essentially the thickness. The total diameter of a 225/55 would be larger than 225/45.

Hmmmm. Spacers my present a problem rubbing on bumps then?

55 is the percent ratio of the width. That percent ratio will be the height of the sidewall.

With spacers you might rub depending on the size of the bump.
