So my mothers Acura MDX (Sorry its not a civic but its still honda ) Transmission went out and the mechanic is trying to charge her around $5000 for a used one for everything (the transmission, installation, shipping of the tranny, etc). I believe the honda dealership was the same price.
Now I am no automechanic but I did some simple research and found out that she can buy a used tranny from ( http://www.autopartsfair.com/acura-...ed_transmissions.html?campaign=theautochannel ) at about $1500. I did a simple ''how much does swapping out a transmission cost'' google search and concluded that is should be about $300-$400. What numbers do you think are correct?
Please help as we are on vacation and trying to get this done in a timely matter so we can return home. I do not want her to get ripped off and you now how some women can be when it comes to mechanical stuff... Thanks for your help! (expect some new civic updates to my own ride in about a week if this gets done )
