Getting clear coat put on my coupe si today, a guy my family members have used for a long time used to work at a Mercedes dealer so things should really good. The clear coat stuff is called Xzilon.

A lot of these type of "coatings" are becoming available at the retail level for the average consumer to use themselves. They are generally pretty good and durable but the application and prep required to have a nice look is somewhat lacking from the dealers.
Product: Decent
Application: Poor

They don't last the life of the car but they are decent. Unfortunately on the detailing forums you see horror stories of the dealers barely washing the car before spraying the stuff on. A guy with a sierra had bird poop sealed in under his. Ill try and find a pic.

Lol maybe they just wanted to preserve it for him?

Snake oil>?

Make sure to read most of the reviews before deciding if this product is for you. It's like most any aftermarket 3rd party product sold, where the seller has nothing to do with the warranty, and you have to jump through hoops with an 'insurance company' who isn't in the risk business. It's all about profit and lots of it.

As far as spray paint 'washing off' that's not too hard, I can wash off just about any spray paint with the right solvent, especially a lacquer spray paint.

In my opinion, the best plan is to keep the car washed clean, and apply wax by hand yourself a few times a year.

^ I agree,I know someone who got it on a cobalt.it now looks like a film is on the paint and will not come off.total waste of money, which I told him not to do.He is real gollable and spent like 1700 on dealer add-ons. Wash and wax periodically and you will be fine.

either way my dad already had his done and one bottle will do 3 cars. the guy told me he reapplies his every couple of months and his Audi looks so good. he only charged me $100 to put the stuff on the interior(some brand he swears by) and the outside and it took him a couple hours to put on after he claybared my car and put the stuff on. He did the car section by section. so people can claim its bad but not if you reapply it like every 6 months. 3.3.13.jpg

Ziebarts has one they told me it would take all the swirls out and would take all day to prep and apply. I was told I have to get it once a year. Instead if beading the water sheets off. Very hesitant 300 is a good chunk of change
