Life-like animatronic dinosaurs arrive at Chester Zoo for new exhibition
Thirteen life-size and incredibly life-like animatronic dinosaurs have arrived at Chester Zoo. The new exhibition, featuring mechanical replicas of the creatures that roamed the earth 200 million years ago, will open in July
The animated robots will be part of an outdoor trail called Dinosaurs at Large! and will show visitors exactly what it would have been like to get close to such huge beasts
A workman removes wrapping from a mechanical Tryceratops
Featuring realistic movements and sounds, the dinosaurs will include the infamous Tyrannosaurus rex, the most feared land predator of all time. Above, Creative Director of Billings Productions Inc. Sean Dickson, from Mckinney, Texas, guides the mechanical Tyrannosaurus rex into position
One of the enormous herbivores is eased out of its container
A junior Apatosaurus is maneuvered into position
The fearsome Tyrannosaurus rex makes its way through the gates of the zoo. Entry to the exhibit is included in the price of entry
A workman is dwarfed by the life-size head of a Tyrannosaurus rex
A T.rex pokes his head around a corner. Themed events are being run in conjunction with the exhibit including dinosaur birthday parties and brunches
The event, which also aims to spread the message that once a creature is gone, it is gone forever, will run from 1st July until 8th October and will be open everyday from 10 am to 6 pm
