So I woke up this morning and got in the car and started it up. The Imid had a check tire pressure alert. It was 59f outside so I thought just cold weather. Then I remembered the nitrogen in the tires. So i checked all tires and the front drivers side tire was at 26psi. I drove to work and checked the tire for any nails or anything that could cause a leak. this is what I found. So I get a good look at it and its lock wire and super close to the sidewall. I was getting upset thinking I was going to have to buy 2 new tires.
So after work I am driving home and the alert on the Imid goes away along with the light on the dash. I thought well it must have inflated back up some how while getting on the interstate. So decide to go to the tire shop and have them see if they could patch it for me.
Got in the tire bay and watched the guy take the tire off (I was over his shoulder breathing down his neck). As we pulled the tire off the wheel the tpms is sitting in the bottom of the tire. We inspected the tire and there was no puncture through the tire. The picture above was not deep enough to go all the way through. So I have him put the tire back on and put the tpms back where it was (laying in the bottom of tire). Got to the stealership and told them that the check tire pressure alert came up on the dash/Imid. I also fibbed and said it came off an on repeatedly on the drive home and there (thinking they would check the tpms) They checked tire pressure and said I was on the threshold of the lower limits for the alert to come on and just filled my tires up.
Now I am puzzled on how to let them know its broken. If I tell them I took it to a shop they will think the shop broke it taking the tire off the wheel. I don'y know what to do. I can hear it falling on the inside of the wheel when i listen for it. Any suggestions??
