hey guys i have my set of fogs that i still havnt installed because i really dont wanna tap in to the factory wiring is there any way to do it with an add a cicurit?

i have an lx coupe and its not the oem style fog light kit its the one off of car id. they have a switch for the little pannel on the left not up on the stick

did it not come with wiring instructions?

Then there should be no big deal to install it. One wire off the light goes to ground, the other to a relay. ( I assume they included one in the kit? )

Wiring up a relay isn't difficult, terminals 85 + 86 are the ones that hold in the contacts between # 30 and 87. Hook battery power with an appropriate fuse ( I would use a 20 amp fuse inline ) to terminal # 30. The relay output to the lights is # 87. Either #85 or #86 can get hooked to a ground, but the other has to be from your switch. ( assuming you are switching the positive side )

With a test light, find a switched ( key on ) power source in your fuse block. Remove the fuse, and install a tap + fuse. Run that to the switch, so if you turn the car off without turning the switch off, it will open the contacts on the relay cutting power to the lights, and not killing your battery.

I drew a couple of schematic that you or anyone in the future can use to install the fogs without messing with the fuses or car wires. Unless you tap into a fuse or a wire that is turned on by ACC, than your fogs will stay on til you switch it off.

I like switching the ground personally, if for any reason your wire got pinched between something or had the jacket rubbed off the only thing that will happen is that the lights would come on, no short circuit tripping a fuse or a breaker.
