Chromebooks are built and optimized for the web, so you get a faster, simpler and more secure experience without all the headaches of ordinary computers. Take a look: http://www.google.com/chromebook

I want to ride a unicycle and throw this thing into the river from there.

I like your thinking! I usually throw electronics into bodies of water myself

google is going to be selling a new laptop in like a month. It has no real operating system. It updates itself over the net, it boots in like 8 seconds, and goes right into the net. It opens up all your google items, docs, images, etc - all saved to the cloud. Essentially, it's supposed to be the future of computing. Save everything to the cloud, and you don't have to worry about viruses, losing a hard drive, laptop theft etc. All your data stays on their servers. It's going to work over wifi and 3g data plans

Virgin America Passengers Getting Free Loaner Chromebooks

Google's offering free (for the duration of the flight) Chromebooks and WiFi to Virgin America passengers who will put their 'tops through the wringer, starting tomorrow. A credit card deposit's required, so don't spill your soda.

This is more marketing stunt than anything else, but you really can't complain about a free computer and precious, precious internet while you're stuck tens of thousands of miles in the sky. The program ends on September 30th, so if you're planning on flying and want to plan your travels around the availability of a free Chromebook, here's your chance.
