Harry Potter coming to Universal L.A.; expanding in Orlando
The Wizarding World of Harry Potter, which has attracted record numbers to Universal Orlando Resort, is coming to Universal Studios Hollywood. And fans can expect the Boy Wizard's realm in Orlando to expand.
The announcement was made official on Tuesday by Warner Bros. Entertainment and Universal Parks and Resorts, though it was thin on details. The new Southern California park "will be as impressive as what has been created in Orlando," according to a press release, and will include a Hogwarts castle and its signature ride, Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey.
Also no word on where or when the expansion in Orlando will take place. But given the huge success of that attraction, which debuted in June 2010, the announcement isn't surprising. Attendance at Universal rose 20% that year to 11.2 million. During the first half of this year, attendance is up 52% the Orlando Sentinel reports.
