Tanning booth mom calls arrest for taking daughter, 5, a misunderstanding; ‘It was a sunburn,’ dad says

Patricia Krentcil, 44, told NBC's local New York affiliate that she took her daughter with her to a local tanning salon but that the child was not exposed to the booth's synthetic UV rays.

This woman puts my State to shame. I guess she watches too much Jersey Shore. Now she looks like beef jerky.

The town of Nutley is 2-3 miles away from where I live....:pat:

give her a few more years of tanning... she'll get there

Wait this happened in Nutley? Damn that's like 3 miles from me too...I thought she was from down the shore. The articles I read never said where in NJ

I would have expected it to happen somewhere down the shore. Lol. Nutley is full of weirdos anyway.

never heard of such a thing. 1 time per week? There are people that go every day, or every other day... :pat:

He said on average, people tan three times a week to treat skin conditions or depression, and to enhance their appearance.
WTF?! Where the hell did they get such an absurd idea that it treats those conditions? I think all the tanning fried their brains

depression is supposedly helped by exposure to sun - "light affects the melatonin-serotonin system and elevates mood". Think of people who get depressed during the winter months - seasonal depression. It's said that sunlight can help people with eczema or other skin issues...

I don't see how a tanning bed can even come close to natural sunlight. I know they have bulbs specifically made for medical cases like that but tanning beds don't use them. My friend has eczema and tanning beds make it so much worse for her. She winds up having to go to the Dr. afterwards. The beds use a much more concentrated UV. W/e makes them happy I guess.
