Honda Civic at No. 1 in California car sales

page1.sized.jpg

With 30,000 units sold, the Honda Civic was the best-selling new passenger car in California through the first nine months of this year, according to third-quarter statistics released by the Sacramento-based California New Car Dealers Association.

The Civic holds a slight edge over the No. 2 Honda Accord. The next three spots are held by Toyota models – Camry, Prius and Corolla, respectively.

The highest-ranking American-made passenger car on the list is the Ford Fusion – 17th with about 9,000 registrations.

The CNCDA reported last week that new car sales in California rose 9.4 percent in the third quarter, compared with last year. The CNCDA projected slightly more than 1.3 million new-car sales in California for all of 2011, which would be a 10.9 percent improvement over 2010.

read a report on temple of vtec saying how only 15k units have sold of all 2012 civics nation wide, hence a redesign coming in its second model year.

yea well Honda had very aggresive finance lease offerings making them very affordable. I got a 2011 sedan lx on lease for $207/mo "premium" lease(includes umbrella insurance, 6 month forgiveness on trade-in and all inclusive maintenance) with nothing down. Just paid the taxes.

pretty good considering 2 years ago I was quoted $400/mo lease for the same car (poor credit at the time, its better now) but still.

Still... to think it beat out the prius... in California? Wow.

Gotta remember too that Toyota didn't catch up on Prius production until the beginning of this month. For a while my dealership, in VA, had a list of about 50 people waiting for a Prius because with the Tsunami, they couldn't catch up. Now that they have returned to "full capacity", there are rebates hahaha.

Something wrong there, as the September sales figures show 14,xxx civics sold that month. Over 14k in Sept alone. There haven't been 15k sold totally.

Aug shows sales of 12,xxx civic vehicles.

I guess so, where did you see the sales figures ? I googled '2012 honda civic sales figures" before I posted that to try and verify and nothing came up.
