Honda Civic at No. 1 in California car sales
With 30,000 units sold, the Honda Civic was the best-selling new passenger car in California through the first nine months of this year, according to third-quarter statistics released by the Sacramento-based California New Car Dealers Association.
The Civic holds a slight edge over the No. 2 Honda Accord. The next three spots are held by Toyota models – Camry, Prius and Corolla, respectively.
The highest-ranking American-made passenger car on the list is the Ford Fusion – 17th with about 9,000 registrations.
The CNCDA reported last week that new car sales in California rose 9.4 percent in the third quarter, compared with last year. The CNCDA projected slightly more than 1.3 million new-car sales in California for all of 2011, which would be a 10.9 percent improvement over 2010.
