iPads top kids holiday wish lists

Parents who have let their kids play with their iPad now get to reap what they've sown: a recent Nielsen study reveals that nearly half of those kids (44 percent) want an iPad within the next six months, up from 31 percent last year. And right behind it are the iPod Touch (30 percent) and iPhone (27 percent).

Among consumers 13 and older, the iPad also held the top spot, but it was a much smaller percentage of respondents expressing their desire for one (24 percent), up from 18 percent in 2010. For teens and adults, computers and e-readers followed at 18 percent.

For the kid set, computers, non-iPad tablets and Nintendo 3DS also figured heavily in their minds, with each coming in at 25 percent. Other videogame consoles, smartphones and TVs also claiming spots on their wanna-have list.

Other recent surveys show that the iPad2 is the most-wanted device of the season, with 65 percent of Sodahead voters putting it at the top of their wish lists. Our own informal survey in that story showed 39 percent of the 632 who voted also wanted an iPad 2 for Christmas, followed by 10 percent for a Kindle Fire.

Hilarious! Every one of those items are to use while you're not moving your body or exerting yourself. When I was between 6-12 years old, I wanted a bike, baseball glove and bat, sled, hockey stick & skates, etc.

Me too! I was always running around outdoors and when the light came on outside..it was time to come in!
 
Times are so tough that all these kids want/expect an iPad? The cheapest one new is over $500 with tax. Every item is some form of tech/electronic product. Tech is cool and all, but that is kind of sad
 
I don't know how parents afford toys and gadgets nowadays. I remember when we got our first Nintendo for xmas in the early 80's and I thought we had hit the lottery. When my little guy gets older I can't wait to see what he's gonna want. :nervous:
 
Kids are way too connected. When I was little we got to watch tv or play video games for a little while in the evenings. During the day we were outside the entire time playing sports, riding bikes on trails we made in the woods behind our house, and having Nerf wars.
