Apple held their press conference today showing off their latest iTv and iPad with great applause.

Many rumors and speculative parts had surfaced in the preceding months which came to light today. The latest iTV was shown off, and will support 1080p video from itunes.

Next up was the new iPad. As previous rumors suggested, the new iPad does in fact have a retina display supporting 2048x1080 resolution. This is reportedly the highest resolution in a mobile device with 40% greater color saturation over the ipad2. It will have a 5 megapixel camera which is found in the iphone 4s, and supports 1080p video recording. It will also have image stabilization, voice dictation through microphone, and 4g LTE through ATT & Verizon.

Pricing will remain the same as the previous Ipad. The new Ipad will start at $499 for the 16 gig ipad, and $629 for the LTE versions. Ipad 2 models will remain in retail locations with a $100 discount from previous selling points. Ipad 2 will have a $399 starting price point going forward.

Available in the US and other select countries March 16th.

Verizon offering hotspot -no word on AT&T

GottaBeMobile reports that Verizon has officially announced that its data plans for the new iPad Wi-Fi + 4G will include mobile hotspot functionality at no additional charge. The feature allows users to share the device's cellular connection, broadcasting it as Wi-Fi signal that can be used to provide data connectivity for notebook computers and other devices.

Walmart offering the new ipad at 12:01am

Walmart has issued a statement announcing that it will be offering a "limited supply" of the new iPad beginning at 12:01 AM local time at its 24-hour stores in the United States. Walmart's sales will start eight hours before Apple's own retail stores open for business Friday morning.

If you want to be the first person amongst your friends and colleagues to have the new iPad, you will need to head to your local Walmart. Starting at 12:01 a.m. local time on March 16, a limited supply of the new iPad will be available at your local 24-hour Walmart. Other retailers’ doors don’t open until 8 a.m. local time, so you can get to work on time and beat the rush by coming to Walmart.

my buddy was just telling me that walmart is not suppose to offer the iPad at midnight because it states in their contract with apple that they can not sell it before a certain time on the actual release date. this will be interesting :think:

Apple has just announced that the new iPad has sold over 3 million units in the first 4 days of launch

Apple didn't announce first weekend sales numbers for the iPad 2 as they were in extremely short supply, but the company sold more than 300,000 of the original iPad on its first day, and it took 28 days to move the first million iPads.

AT&T has also issued a brief statement indicating that it set a new single-day record for iPad sales and activations, but stopping short of providing any hard numbers. On Friday, March 16, AT&T set a new single-day record for its iPad sales and activations, demonstrating robust demand for the new iPad. The announcement comes after Apple also said it saw a "record weekend" for the new iPad, which launched on Friday, March 16th.

Neither company has released the exact number of sales or activations.

hey wanga - hows the heat on the new ipad? I'm seeing reports of complaints that it's running hot, and others are saying they notice no real difference from the iPad2.
